A wealth of creative flair is celebrated in an art exhibition at Oakham Castle.
The third Art at the Castle exhibition features 54 local artists displaying their paintings, drawings and prints, many of which are for sale.

The judges were impressed by the quantity of entries hailing from Rutland itself and the number of new e
ntrants, indicating the vibrant artistic life of the county.

The exhibition includes oils, watercolours, pen and ink, and digital pieces at a range of prices from £25 to £500.

The prize for the best entry from an emerging artist was won by Wendy de Verteuil (Prize donated by Arts for Rutland), the £100 prize for the best entry from an artist under the age of 25 (donated by the Rutland Decorative and Fine Arts Society) was won by Henry Goodger and two further prizes were given to Lucy Cortese and James Dyer.

Peter Lawson, chairman of Arts for Rutland, said: "It's inspiring to see an ever increasing standard at this exhibition of art from our local area.

"I'm delighted for the winners, for everyone who contributed such a high quality of work and for those many behind the scenes that made it all possible."

The exhibition will be open until 31st August. Oakham Castle is open 10.30am – 5pm Monday to Saturday and 1-5pm on Sundays.
