Spirits were not dampened by the weather at the 176th Rutland County Show at Burley-on-the-Hill yesterday.
The show went ahead as planned and thousands of people came from Rutland and much further afield to enjoy the day's events and entertainment.
Show secretary and organiser, Jo Morley said: "It went suberbly considering the downpour in the morning. Everybody was smiling and the crowd numbers were not significantly down.
"The traffic management was much better this year and I think a lot of people are pleased with that."
At 6pm, nine-a-half-hours after the event began, the band was still playing and many of the showjumping and pony events were still taking place.
Numbers in the sheep and cattle classes were down on previous years due to bluetongue livestock disease but it the quality of exhibits was as high as ever.
Duncan Burton, chief steward in the sheep section said: "The numbers are down a bit but everybody is here who should be. We had a new class this year, for Beltex, an up-and-coming breed.
"The judges have been very impressed."
Andrew Nelson who farms in Hambleton and breeds Longhorn cattle said: "One thing I will say about the Rutland Show is the quality of the stock is brilliant. It's a local show with national quality stock and I was amazed at how many people are here."
This year's show raised money for the Stars Blackout Trust which helps people with conditions such as epilepsy. The amount raised is not yet known.
