DRAMA: All aboard the Ghost Train
Rutland Arts Theatre Society's May production The Ghost Train by Arnold Ridley, is staged at the Victoria Hall in Oakham from Thursday, May 15 to Saturday.
The play is set on a stormy night at a remote Cornish
railway station in the 1920s where a group of people are stranded due to the weather. After tales of a supernatural train start to emerge things get very mysterious indeed.
RATS recently appealed for 1920s memorabilia to make the sets authentic. Director Barbara Ashton said: "The response to our appeal has been fantastic and we now have plenty of items to make our set look like a real GWR waiting room. Thank you to everyone who helped.
"We have a great cast, authentic 1920s costume, wonderful sound effects and incidental music written especially for us by Alex Wright."
The play is loosely based on the 1944 film The Ghost Train which starred Arthur Askey.
Mrs Ashton added: "We are doing the play as it was written and as it ahould be performed. It's a very intense atmospheric play that should have the audience on the edge of their seats.
The Ghost Train will be performed on May 15, 16 and 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £8 and are available from Buy the Book in Oakham.
The bar will be open and audiences are invited to join the cast for a drink after the Saturday performance.
