An arts cafe has opened to the public in Owston, providing a new space for artists to show their work.
The Rural Training Centre is one of the best kept secrets on the Leicestershire Rutland border but now staff hope to expand its appeal.

The new cafe is part-funded by Northamptonshire ACRE and offers an exciting exhibition space for viewing art and enjoying a coffee and cake. It is already so popular that some artists have booked a slot as far ahead as November 2009.

But the first display will be by the Great Easton Art Club from June 21 to July 11 until the full programme launches in September.

The cafe is open from Monday to Friday from 11am until 4pm and for the first weekend of the exhibition, Saturday and Sunday June 21 and 22.

This event is part of Rutland Open Studios, where many artists in the Rutland and Leicestershire area will be displaying work at various venues for art lovers to enjoy.

For further information about the Rural Training Centre and future exhibitions call (01664) 454507 or visit www.networkrural.org.uk
