GALLERIES, studios and workshops around Rutland will be open from Saturday 20th June as almost 100 artists take part in Rutland Open Studios 2009.
Offering a wide variety of artistic subjects and styles there is lots to see, from jewellery and sculpture to painting and photography.

Mo Gardner was the inspiration behind the Open Studios event, which began three years ago.

She said: "In the first year we had 72 artists, the second year 78, and this year, amazingly, we have 95 artists taking part.

"We have an iconographer for the first time this year, another artist who works with fire and one who specialises in decoupage.

"Some artists get together in a hall or a local gallery, some pubs offer space and some use the Catmose Gallery at the Vale of Catmose College in Oakham. We try to keep within Rutland as much as possible."
