Concern over flats complex

I would like to draw to the attention of the residents of Ryhall and surrounding villages, through your letters page of Spire Homes and Rutland County Council's intention to convert the warden's accommodation at Francis Court into a house of short term occupancy for homeless people of Rutland and Leistershire.
Francis Court is a complex of 24 flats for elderly people wishing to live independently but in a supported, safe and secure environment.

Whilst I have every sympathy for the plight of the homeless, I believe there are some questions our caring con
servative council should consider.

1. Why under the management of Spire Homes, their chosen housing association partner, is there no longer a warden living on site?

2. Is a complex of flats designed and created for the care of the elderly, an appropriate place for housing homeless people on short term tenancy.

3. What has happened to democracy when the majority of residents object to the change?

Alistair Jackson whose idea this is will be addressing Ryhall Parish Council on July 23 at 7.30pm in Ryhall Methodist Hall. I urge all who believe this is not the way we should treat our elderly or our homeless to attend and make their feelings known.

Francis Court is a most valuable resource of accommodation for the elderly available to all Rutland but with priority to villagers and their families from Ryhall and the surrounding area.

If this change is not resisted this resource may not be there when needed in the future.
