Demolition spoils peace
Published Date:

Saturday morning August 16 and all was quiet in Lanhgam, but not for long.
At 8.30am the demolition men had already begun to demolish an outbuilding at Langham School which is within the county council administration.
As chairman of the parish council I was aware that a planning application was pending for such work, but had not as yet been approved.
The council offices are of course shut on a Saturday.
This reminded me of an incident which happened in Langham about 18 months ago, again on a Saturday morning and which subsequently led to a costly public enquiry.
I wonder if this is a new rule for Saturdays and if it applies to everyone especially those of us who ultimately foot the bill.
