Disgraceful abuse of bin collectors
I wish to respond to your article headlined 'Bin collectors under fire' about a wheelie bin that was not emptied because the lid was not closed.
I want to speak in the strongest terms in defence of the refuse collectors.
I have a relation who is a refuse collector and the abuse they have to take is disgraceful.
They are only doing their jobs at the end of the day, in all weathers and if residents did as they have been asked on several occasions, there would be no problem with bins being emptied.
It is all down in black and white in the booklet they were sent and printed in your paper on several occasions.
It is just a matter of common sense.
If the bin men had to wait while overflowing refuse was removed from bins at every property where the lid was raised, they would never get the job done.

I would say our bin men are great. They work from 6am until 6pm, but could the council put it a bit plainer.
My garden bin was refused this morning because I had put plant pots in it.
To me plant pots are garden rubbish. Anyone agree with me?
