Few who watched the soldiers march through Oakham cannot have felt a surge of pride and admiration.
Admiration for their superb marching and faultless turn out and pride that such young men are prepared to give their lives for us and our country. But why oh why was there not more publicity given to the event?

Not a notice in the market square or indeed in the town. Nothing given out in All Saints Church about the service. Thank heavens for the Rutland Times, otherwise there would have been no one lining the street at all.

Mrs L Stephen
Oakham
