I am 83 years old and not too old to learn, but I was both surprised and fortunate to receive a history lesson whilst in hospital.
The nursing staff at the Rutland Memorial Hospital decided that for one day they would dress in the style of nurses throughout the ages. It was, as a patient, a tonic to be cared for by nurses dressed in the uniform of nurses of a bygone age.

They were great and entered into the spirit of the day which was very enjoyable. It even had the housekeeper dressed in the uniform of a matron of many years ago, but she not only dressed for the part, but she acted the part of a martinet matron of that period.

I received a typical matron outburst. I am glad I am in hospital in the 21st century and not the 18th or 19th century.

Very enjoyable and thank you Maria and your wonderful staff, it was much appreciated.
