Rail service clarification
We read in Your Letters that we are due to have a direct rail link to London as of December 14.
While we have heard rumours about this, we did not realise anything had been decided.

Editor's note: It appears our correspondent may have jumped the gun. East Midlands Trains this week said that they cannot yet confirm there will be a service running from Oakham to London from December. A spokesperson said: "There will be big changes to train services in December with the new station opening in Corby. Suggestions have included a service from Oakham or Melton to London but nothing will be confirmed until mid August. It's still only a possibility."
