The recent spate of charity box thefts and purse snatches in our area is a sad reflection of the times we now live in where crimes of this nature are committed against the elderly and vulnerable in the community.
People who do these things are in my opinion the lowest form of life who care not one iota for their victims and the heartache and misery they cause.

The politically correct driven judicial system seems only too eager to promote the ""rights" of the criminal and the victim seems to be of secondary importance and I despair at the direction we are heading.

If they ever catch the culprits, which I think is highly unlikely, then I have a suggestion to open up the stocks in Oakham marketplace and incarcerate them here for a day or two and allow the victims of their crimes to dispense justice in any way they deem appropriate.

In conclusion the notable Mr Bumble in Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist once said "the law is an ass-a idiot" and I see no reason within the present system to refute his observation.
