Speak out on Parks school
Following your article regarding the future of the Parks School, I was somewhat surprised that no correspondence was published on this important matter.
The community have given wonderful support to The Parks going back to 1977 when Rutland Round Table's Barrel Push from Oakham to Great Yarmouth raised £8,000 (a lot of money in 1977) to build the pool.
The Rutland Lions Club built the changing rooms and in more recent times the Rotaract Club providing the Family Centre.
Parks has not only catered for the educational needs of the less fortunate children in our society, but equally importantly supported their families.
The future of Parks is now open to public consultation. I urge the public who have supported Parks so well in the past to get involved, consider the options offered by the council and make any other options if appropriate.
The worse thing that can happen is that the spirit of The Parks is lost forever. It is not about the building, it is the care that is given and the expertise and dedication of the staff that must continue .
So please exercise your democratic right and tell the council what you think
Jim Telling
Community Governor
The Parks School
