THROUGH your paper, may I express my sincere thanks to all who took part in the recent Remembrance Day events.
To the vicar and churchwardens of All Saints for a most moving service; to the Lord Lieutenant, the High Sheriff and Deputy Lieutenant for their support; to the RAF for providing a guard honour at the wreath laying; to the party from St George's barr
acks, the army cadets, air training corps, scouts and guides for their presence; to the standard bearers, whose salutes were of their usual high standard; to our trumpet player, whose performance in church, at the memorial and at the two minutes' silence were excellent; to Insp J Monks and his officers for the traffic control; to the car park attendant who was so courteous and helpful; to the ATC band from Market Harborough, which leads the parade and, finally, to the Rev B Nichols, who officiated at the two minutes' silence on the 11th and at which there was a big turnout and the observance of a dignified silence.

All together it was a worthy occasion of remembrance, and thanks to Mary Thomas for organising the poppy sales.

I would like to thank all the members of the Gretton and District Royal British Legion women's section and friends for selling poppies in the village, and to Mr and Mrs K Frankland, from Harringworth for overseeing the collection there.

This year's total for the district has broken all previous records. A grand total of £1,870.61 was raised, thanks to the generosity of all who donated and wore thier poppy with pride.

Finally, a big thank-you to Rob Clark, the poppy day organiser, for his sterling work again this year for the appeal.

Chairman,
