IT was a memorable year for award winners Oakham in Bloom in 2009 –and its volunteers hope 2010 brings more prizes.
The horticultural group was finally rewarded with a Britain in Bloom gold prize last year, adding to its 2009 gold award for the East Midlands region.

This week the framed certificates went on display in Oakham's library.
Chairman Maureen Dodds said: "It's nice to be able to show the awards to the public."

Volunteers in the group are already sprucing up parts of Oakham as they prepare to wow the judges all over again.

On Monday, as well as putting their awards on show, Oakham in Bloom drew the numbers from its monthly lottery in the confines of the library.

January was a special month with extra prizes available for those who entered the draw. The numbers drawn were 32, 180, 42, 116, 136, 117, 187, 98 and 124.
