Plans have been drawn up to control quarrying in Rutland in the future.
Four areas of the county are included in the plan which focuses on the scale and form of future mineral extraction.
The aim is to use the guide when considering issues like noise, transport and the environment when planning applications for minerals development are received.
In the northern area around Greetham, Clipsham, Stretton and Thistleton no new mineral
workings are proposed, but extensions to existing quarries could be allowed if there is a proven need.
The central area around Little Casterton also has no proposed developments but small scale proposals for the extraction of building stone in certain circumstances may be allowed.
In the southern area around Ketton an area has been set aside where Castle Cement can search for limestone and clay reserves.
No new mineral workings will be allowed unless they relate to cement production.
In the west of the county there will be no minerals development.
A consultation is under way for Rutland County Council to gauge the public's views on the proposals.
The Minerals Core Strategy can be viewed at the county council offices in Oakham and public libraries in Oakham, Uppingham, Ketton and Ryhall.
It can also be viewed and downloaded from the council's website www.rutland.gov.uk/mineralscorestrategy or is available on request free of charge from the council.
