The lowest ever increase in Rutland's council tax at 1.9 per cent has been agreed by the county council.
This week's meeting of the council heard that the authority will be making more than £1m of savings over the next 12 months.
Approval of the increase means that the bill for a Band D home in 2010-11 will be £1,689.46, including a £169.64 contribut
ion to Leicestershire Police Authority, £53.38 to the fire authority and an average of £35.93 in parish precepts.
Council leader Roger Begy (Con) said: "The council is fully aware of the financial position throughout the country during the last 18 months.
"We know that many members of the Rutland community are facing financial pressures at the moment and watching what they spend.
"We are no different, and I'm pleased to say that it is my view that we're running as efficiently as possible.
"It is often a difficult balance between saving money but still providing high-quality services that people rely on daily, such as education, social services and bin collections.
"We're making sure that our contracts are providing good value for money, our staff are working in the most efficient manner and our overheads are as low as realistically possible."
Council tax bills will arrive at all households in the next week or so.
