SCHOOL pupils have been evacuated following a gas leak at Catmose College in Oakham.
Police and firefighters are at the scene in Cold Overton Road along with experts from Transco.

The gas leak is thought to have been caused by workmen cutting through a mains cable on the building site where the new school is under development.

Oakham police officers were hosting a beat surgery in the school grounds at the time of the incident. Inspector Johnny Monks has assured nearby residents that they are not at risk.

Charles Haworth, of Barleythorpe Road, Oakham, was in the area at the time. He said: "You could hear the gas hissing from a long way off. All of the pupils are gathering outside the main school reception."
