A Rutland farmer has been selected as a finalist for a Farmer's Weekly Award.

He said: "You have to nominate yourself and then you are chosen to be one of three finalists.

"I hope that I might get it, but I expect the other entrants are of a high standard."

Mr Brown added: "They asked me lots of questions which I answered to the best of my ability. I wont find out until October but I'm really looking forward to the award night."

Mr Brown's Fairchilds Lodge farm won a condervation award at the Beautiful Farm awards 2007, and has recenty been awarded a Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group award for the community woodland he has planted on his land.
