Live shows at Rutland County Museum look set to continue following a successful trial.
Organisers at Rutland County Council are now half way through a six-month trial of shows at the museum in Oakham and are thrilled with the success so far.

The first two shows – a young musicians' showcase and a big band night – were sell-outs and
the latest musicals show was also a big hit.

Councillor Peter Jones, who is behind the museum plans, said: "We have been really pleased with the success of the shows so far and the live events are something we intend to continue with."

The first Live@ The Museum show took place in May and saw an exhibition space at the museum turned into a 200-seat theatre with a licensed bar.

And plans will soon be under way for a full season of events next year which could include some shows at Oakham Castle where Friends of Rutland County Museum have recently installed a new sound system.

The organisers are also looking for volunteers to get involved in running the shows whether as ushers, helping to set up or running the bar.

Tickets are now on sale for the two biggest events of the summer programme.

Comedian Barry Cryer treads the boards on Saturday August 2 and TV personality Chris Packham will take centre stage on Saturday August 16.

Tickets are on sale priced at £25 for Barry Cryer and £20 for Chris Packham from www.rutland.gov.uk/live@themuseum or the reception desk at Rutland County Museum.
