A veterinary centre in Oakham is trying to trace the owner of two lost kittens which were found at Barnsdale Wood on Wednesday.
The kittens were taken to experts at Oakham Veterinary Centre after the woman who found them failed to find any sign of their mother or owners.

Jo Harley was out walking at the woods at around midday when she found the kittens opposite the entran
ce to the new eco house being built there.

She said: "With no sign of their mother and no one answering the door at the eco house, I popped them in the car and took them to the reception staff at Oakham Veterinary Hospital. They will look after them for a few weeks in the hope that their owner claims them, otherwise they will be re-homed.

"I'm not sure whether the kittens were dumped as unwanted or simply strayed too far from home and were lost. There was no sign of the mother and the kittens were clean so couldn't have been in the area for long.

"They were very friendly and didn't mind the dog or my 18-month-old toddler having a poke.

"The kittens are about three months old. One was completely black and more shy that its brother or sister which was a very confident little thing, with a mottled tortoise coloured coat."

Oakham Veterinary Hospital in Oakham can be contacted on (01572) 722646.
