Councillors in Rutland have not raised any objections to a controversial planning application to dump "low-level" radioactive waste in a village near the county.
At a Rutland County Council development control committee meeting on Tuesday last week, councillors said they would not object to a planning application by Augean to dump the radioactive waste from hospitals and decommissioned power stations at its l
andfill site in Stamford Road, King's Cliffe.
The decision will eventually be made by Northamptonshire County Council, but Rutland was consulted as it is a neighbouring authority.
Councillors had previously asked for more information from Augean, saying they were minded to refuse the application.
But at last week's meeting, councillors said they would raise no objections, despite concerns over whether or not consideration had been given to national policy, the long-term security arrangement and the potential for future development in the area.
East Northants District Council, Peterborough City Council and Corby Borough Council have voiced concerns, as have a number of surrounding parish councils.
Northamptonshire council is due to miss its target date for a decision of November 24, but has not set a new date for a decision to be made.
