A town centre manager's role has been altered after less than a year.
Rutland towns manager Mike Horwood no longer has responsibility for Oakham.

He has returned to the post of Uppingham town manager which he held before taking on the role covering both towns in September.

Mr Horwood said the change took effect
"by mutual agreement".

Town centre managers organise events and initiatives to improve the town's economy and environment.

The job is funded by Rutland County Council.

A council spokesman said: "Changes to market town management arrangements have been made to ensure a good balance of resources and delivery in Oakham and Uppingham in order to maximise their potential as successful market towns.

"Each town has different needs and the objectives of the respective partnerships vary.

"Both towns continue to have vibrant retail and business offerings and are now well quipped to continue moving forward, each having many exciting events already planned."

Last year Oakham Town Council contributed £6,000 towards the town partnership, which still employs two administrative staff, and this year it paid £3,000.

The partnership will discuss its new priorities at a meeting next week.
