SOLDIERS who returned from Iraq this week will march through Oakham town centre in a special homecoming parade.

Some of the last Rutland troops returned to St George's Barracks at North Luffenham on Sunday with the rest expected to arrive by the end of this week.
On Thursday next week they hope crowds will line the streets to show their support for what wil
l be
Rutland's final homecoming parade from the war in Iraq.
The 32 (Minden) Battery 16th Royal Artillery Regiment will be joined by a 28-strong marching band as they attend a service at All Saints Church in Oakham at 10am before parading along High Street at about 10.45am where Lord Lieutenant Laurence Howard will take the salute.
Rutland's 11 (Sphinx) Battery, 30 (Rodgers's Company) Battery and 20 Battery have all been deployed to Iraq during the last six years.
Working in intense heat, they were responsible for the operation of the force protection systems in Basra.
Joining them on parade will be 10 soldiers and their dogs from 104
Military Working Dog Support Unit, Royal Army Veterinary Corps, who have also recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The second in command of the regiment, Maj Kevin Radwell, said: "I hope the people of Oakham will join with the soldiers families, friends, members of the county council and local businesses to line the High Street of Oakham to give the troops a thunderous reception and show
their support – they certainly
deserve it.
"Each and every soldier has worked with enthusiasm, dedication and with total professionalism."
Adjutant Noah Gamp added: "The parade is a chance for the soldiers to be in the limelight and for the public to recognise their efforts."
The parade will include 100 Army personnel joined by 40 Royal Navy personnel and 15 members of the RAF.
They will then return to St George's Barracks to be awarded their Op Telic Campaign medals.
Mayor Jan Fillingham hopes to be part of the crowd next week. She said: "I think it's brilliant.
"These guys are working for us and if we can't support them, it's a bad job."
