The county supports celebrations for the Territorial Army's 100th anniversary
Rutland is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Territorial Army by drawing up a list of past and present servicemen.
Anniversary celebrations will take place around the country to mark the contribution of past and present Territorial Soldiers across a century of service.
The celebrations have been named TA100 and the hunt is on for past and present Rutlanders w
ith the hope of organising a commemorative event.
With the backing of Rutland County Council, Colonel Jim Weir, who was previously Vice Lord Lieutenant and past Chairman of Leicestershire and Rutland Reserve Forces Association, is appealing for servicemen to come forward.
Serving and ex-serving members of the TA are encouraged to contact CFolonel Weir with brief details of their service, including the units in which they have served. This will allow the county to draw up a list of volunteers and ex-volunteers for record purposes. All information provided will be kept private and confidential.
The Queen has agreed to be the patron of the TA100 celebrations.
