CAKES, a raffle and a tombola helped to raise almost £250 towards a children's Christmas party.
Organisers of Uppingham’s Children’s Christmas Party held a stall in the market place on Saturday and stalwart of the group for the last 27 years, Phyllis Muller said: “We were very pleased. We raised £248 on the day at the stall.”

The money raised will be added to cash raised by monthly dances at the town hall to pay for a party for one to 11-year-olds each Christmas.

Mrs Muller said: “We have not had any donations this year but still have the dances.

“We have 80 children at the Christmas party and we usually spend about £5 on each present.”

l The next fundraising dance is at Uppingham Town Hall on Saturday from 8.30pm.

Admission costs £5 and includes supper.
