PLANS to sell of council housing in Rutland will be debated by Rutland County Council at their meeting on Monday.
Earlier this week members of Rutland Cabinet unanimously agreed to go ahead with the consulation process to explore whether to sell off its homes.

Spire Homes who already manage the housing stock has made an offer to take over the homes that includes a one off payment to the council, improvements to the homes and a better level of service.

If council approve the recommendations it will go to the next stage for a detailed offer and final negotiation with Spire Homes. Tenants will be consulted every step of the way before it comes back once more to full Council. If they approve, it will go out to ballot in April or May next year.

Leader of the council Roger Begy(Con) said:"If we can't find a deal suitable for tenants we will not go ahead."
