Two arrests after eggs are smashed

Police have arrested two men after four cars were damaged and trays of eggs were deliberately smashed in a Rutland village

The incidents all happened in Main Street, Cottesmore, between 7pm on Tuesday last week and 7.30am the following morning.

The rear windscreen wiper of a white Vauxhall Corsa was pulled off, causing £50 damage and a wing mirror on a blue Volvo S70 was pushed in, causing £50 damage.

Elsewhere in the street the offside mirrors on a Peugeot 206 and a black Ford Focus were smashed, causing £100 damage to each car.

In a further incident, eggs and flowers worth £17 offered for sale on a wooden cart were smashed and damaged.

Police arrested one man at the scene of one of the incidents and a second man was arrested the following morning.

Both were taken to Loughborough police station for questioning and bailed pending further inquiries.
