Nominations for Active Rutland’s annual Community Sports Awards have opened, giving people throughout the county a chance to celebrate grass roots sporting success.
Now in its fourth year, these awards recognise outstanding achievement among local clubs, teams and sports people, as well as coaches and volunteers who work hard behind the scenes.
Active Rutland hopes that local people will get involved in celebrating all that is great about sport in Rutland by nominating people they know – people who have played an important part in a year of sporting success.
Coun Terry King, portfolio holder for development at Rutland County Council, said:“2015 has been a great year for sport. There’s also lots of local sporting success to celebrate and the Community Sports Awards want to find sports people and teams that have achieved great things, as well as those who work tirelessly to support them.
“If you’re involved in grass roots sport in Rutland, be sure to get involved and nominate someone you know.”
There are 14 categories in this year’s awards, of which nominations are now open and will close on October 9.
The awards ceremony itself will be held at Greetham Valley Hotel, Golf and Conference Centre on November 18.
