Life of Augean waste site in King’s Cliffe will be extended

A WASTE company has been given permission to extend the life of a waste site by three years.

The development control committee of Northamptonshire County Council approved plans today (Tuesday) by Augean for the East Northants Resource Management Facility in Stamford Road, King’s Cliffe.

Augean already had permission to dump hazardous and low-level radioactive waste there until August 2013 but this has now been extended to December 2016.

The additional time that has been granted will enable the company to fill the existing void space, ensuring that agreed levels are achieved to create an appropriately restored landform.

A spokesman for Augean said: “We are very pleased that members of the development control committee were able to support this application.

“There is a clear national, regional and local need for the extension to the time of the waste management operations at the site which has been recognised by the county council.

“Augean will continue to maintain a dialogue with local residents to answer any concerns they may have about the site operations for the duration of the permissions.”

Anyone with any concerns is invited to phone 01904 654989 or e-mail consultation@augeanplc.com. People are also welcome to visit the site which can be arranged by contacting the site manager Simon Moyle on 01780 444904 or by e-mailing consultation@augeanplc.com.
