One of Stamford’s largest retail units is to be filled again when fashion brand M&Co opens next Saturday in the former Poundland store.

The 3,407sq ft store will offer the complete shopping experience with women’s wear, men’s wear, children’s clothing for youngsters aged three to 12 and homeware.

Chief Executive at M&Co Andrew McGeoch said the firm was committed to “preserving and developing the high street”.

He added: “We’re thrilled to be bringing M&Co to the beautiful town of Stamford.

“We are looking forward to opening the doors and welcoming local shoppers on Saturday, October 24, and we are sure our new store will provide a large range of fabulous fashion for all the family.”

The new store offers in-store style advisors who will be available to provide advice on the latest trends and clothing to best suit your shape.

Refurbishment work is being done inside the building, which has been empty since Poundland closed in September 2014, less than a year after it opened.

The unit was previously home to Burton and Dorothy Perkins.

M&Co has submitted a planning application to South Kesteven District Council for exterior signage.

There was a mixed reaction to the opening on Twitter and Facebook with some people delighted that a new retail shop, particularly one that offers children’s clothes, while others would have preferred to see different retailers.
