Construction materials company Hanson is looking for enthusiastic school leavers to join its industry-leading training programme aimed at developing future supervisors and managers.
The Leadership, Education and Development programme, known as Lead is designed to train and educate school leavers, who have a minimum of two A-levels and who are keen to learn and develop supervisory skills in a hands-on working environment.
One of the vacancies is at Hanson Cement’s Ketton plant.
Applicants will also need five GCSEs at grade C or above including maths, science and English, a clean driving licence and be willing and able to relocate.
Hanson’s learning and development manager Karen Wright said: “We launched the Lead programme in 2012 and it has been very successful.
“The first three years are spent gaining experience and relevant qualifications in operational aspects of our business. This runs alongside studying for a Foundation Degree at the University of Derby, which will eventually lead to an honours degree in mineral extractives management.
“From year four onwards, the youngsters could progress to become a trainee manager, plant supervisor or another role within our business.”
The trainees study by distance learning, fully funded by Hanson, and receive a competitive salary and benefits package. They are supported by both a manager and mentor.
