Chater Community Choir enjoyed another sell out concert in Uppingham Parish Church on Saturday evening raising a grand total of £1188.17 for two charities.
The charities supported were the Wendy Gough Cancer Awareness Foundation which works to raises awareness of male cancers, particularly testicular cancer, in schools with young people and The Brain Tumour Charity which is the UK’s largest dedicated brain tumour charity committed to fighting brain tumours on all fronts.
The programme included a selection of popular and traditional favourites along with some solo items which delighted the audience on what turned out to be a warm summer evening.
Choir Leader Tracy Steward said: “We were delighted to have had a sell-out concert and raise a substantial amount for our two chosen charities. Yet again our audience show their backing for the various charities we decide upon supporting at each concert meaning we have raised almost £7,000 since we formed in 2012.”
The choir recently sang at The Rutland Show and are entertaining at the St Mary and St John School fete in North Luffenham today (Saturday).
New members are always welcome and do not have to audition and no experience is necessary.
