The category is one of a number that make up the International Business Awards, popularly known as the “Stevies” and which were held in Canada this year.

Mr Hick said: “I am extremely proud of my achievements with Larkfleet and it is a great honour to be recognised in these international awards.

“Our plan is to continue on our current path, which encompasses consistently increasing our geographical reach, our client base and our investment and expertise in sustainable technologies within a variety of markets.”

The International Business Awards attract a range of entries from organisations across the world ranging from large international plcs and public sector organisations to dynamic and innovative small businesses.

Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the awards, said: “We are pleased to once again honour many of the world’s best organisations, professionals, and their achievements.”

The judges recognised that under Mr Hick’s leadership, Larkfleet had grown into a successful group of businesses with a common philosophy of sustainable development.

Larkfleet was started by Mr Hick in 1998 and has grown into an award-winning housebuilder and community developer, a major developer of sustainable energy projects and provider of energy-efficiency improvements for new and existing buildings.

Larkfleet Group is involved with projects from Cornwall to Scotland.
