Cigarettes stolen in raid at Oakham petrol station

A “SIGNIFICANT” amount of cigarettes were stolen from a petrol station in a raid this morning.

Thieves forced open the shutters and smashed a window at the BP petrol station at Midlands Co-operative in Burley Road, Oakham, between 3.45am and 3.55am.

It is not yet known how much the cigarettes were worth.

Police believe there were two people involved and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Sgt Lee Morris said: “If anyone saw a suspicious vehicle in that area of Oakham at that time of the morning we would ask them to come forward.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
