Police seek witnesses to fight in The Merry Monk pub in Oakham
A MAN was arrested on suspicion of assault after a fight in The Merry Monk pub in Oakham on Saturday.
A 33-year-old man was arrested after police were called to the pub in Church Street at about 1.10am.
He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Another man aged 20, was assaulted and was left with minor injuries.
Investigating officer PC Bryan Sladen said: “The altercation took place in the pub and there were a number of people in the premises at the time. We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it to contact us.
“We would especially like to speak to anyone who may have been in the premises but hasn’t yet spoken with the police. Any calls received will be treated in confidence.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1453 Bryan Sladen on 101, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer’s identification number 1453.
