Ten men charged over disorder at HMP Stocken, in Rutland

Ten men have been charged following an incident of disorder at a prison in Rutland.

They are all collectively charged with prison mutiny following the incident that took place at HMP Stocken, in Stretton, Rutland, at around 5.30pm on Sunday, June 14, last year.

The men are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 9).

They are:

Brendan Carey, 39, of Cathwaite, Paston, Peterborough.

Jamie Hill, 35, of Brookfield Avenue, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

Steven Walker, 36, Michael Blackborow, 33, and Bradley Whelan, 24, of HMP Nottingham.

Matthew Hutchinson, 39, and Andrew Neale, 45, of HMP Peterborough.

Daniel Dobb, 29, Wayne Eccles, 37, and Nathan Gordon, 24, of HMP Ranby.

HMP Stocken - a category C prison - was originally opened in 1985 as a young offenders’ institution. It can house up to 842 prisoners at a time.
