The Rutland fundraising group for WaterAid has a double reason to celebrate.

Formed 10 years ago the group has achieved the milestone of raising £150,000 for WaterAid and linked to this Anne Lawson, one of the founders of the Rutland group, has received the President’s Award at the WaterAid Supporters’ Day in London.

This award is given to organisations, communities or individuals who have made a major contribution to WaterAid’s mission to transform lives through access to clean water and safe toilets in the world’s poorest communities.

Robert Macleod-Smith, from the group, described Anne as the “inspiration and driving force” for much of what the group has achieved. He added: “We are very proud of her.”

At the group’s most recent fundraising event a full house at the Stamford Arts Centre enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a charity screening of 45 Years. The event raised £1,150.
