At the request of the practice Healthwatch Rutland visited Oakham Medical Practice.
Three Healthwatch volunteers visited the practice, observed activity in the public areas and talked to more than 40 patients waiting for their appointments.
Overall the visit found patients were satisfied with the service they were receiving although there were some concerns. These centred around difficulty getting through on the phone, lack of privacy at reception, signage, and how patients pick up their prescriptions and get test results.
Healthwatch Rutland made recommendations for improvements and in response the practice has promised that over the next six months they will work towards meeting these concerns with improvements to the telephone system, a new interactive website, greater privacy for patients and improved signage being among changes planned.
