An ancient tradition will be upheld on Tuesday (October 6) when the justice service takes place at Oakham Castle and people are being encouraged to attend.
The High Sheriff of Rutland Andrew Brown will welcome a High Court judge to Oakham Castle before making a procession to All Saints Church for a short service, which celebrates the justice system in the country and replicates the High Sheriff’s ancient role of seeing that justice is done.
Mr Brown has invited the people of Rutland to join the procession and the service, which starts at about 9.45am.
After the service, the High Court judge will return to Oakham Castle to hear some cases. The castle is currently undergoing refurbishment but will reopen especially for the court which is now only held once every two years.
