Badger plight

As a regular visitor to Oakham, and a reader of you excellent paper, I thought a comment should be made concerning your story regarding the water main being laid at Glaston.

You reported that Anglian Water may have to divert their main away from a badgers' set, as the badger is a protected species, and it is illegal to destroy a set if badgers are in residence.

But hang on. Is this the same badger that the Government is proposing to cull to prevent the spread of Bovine TB? So on one hand they are protected, and on the other hand, they are killed.

There was a pop song a few years back entitled The Lunatics have taken over the Asylum. Doesn't this title aptly describe the antics of this ridiculous Government and the badger?
