Post office tops list of what Rutland misses most
Red phone boxes, lazy Sundays and the post office have topped a list of British institutions which Rutlanders miss the most.
The iconic ideas featured in a survey of 2,000 people which found that we hanker for the return of traditional images of Britain to help the country maintain its identity.
And seventy nine per cent of those who took part in the study believe the reason our Britishness is under threat is because people are worried about being politically correct.
Misty-eyed Rutlanders who took part in the survey, which was commissioned by the fizzy drinks company Tango, fear the local pub and full English breakfasts could be the next traditions under threat and would be sad to see pantomimes axed too.
The survey was carried out as Tango announced that it is under threat because of a backlash against fizzy drinks from health campaigners. It is urging people to log on to the internet site www.savetango.co.uk to register their support for their brand.
