Treat for Rutland carers

CARERS were pampered during a special day at Oakham Congregational Church on Tuesday.

Rutland County Council held the pamper and wellbeing day as part of National Carers Week, which runs until Sunday.

A range of pamper treatments were on offer, including neck and shoulder massages, hand massage, reflexology, and Indian head massage.

An information day for carers also takes place outside Tesco in South Street today between 9am and 3pm.

Portfolio holder for health and social care Christine Emmett (Con) said the week highlighted carers “vital contribution” to their families in providing unpaid care for someone who is ill, frail or disabled.”

The council also said it was pleased with the response to a carers strategy document, which asked people about the services it provides for carers.
