Ven Gordon Steele, Archdeacon of Oakham, Rt Revd Donald Allister, Bishop of Peterborough and Revd David Nicol, the new Rector of the Rutland Water Group of Parishes

A LARGE congregation welcomed the new Rector of the Rutland Water Group of Parishes at a special service in Empingham Parish Church.

The Rev David Nicol was instituted by the Bishop of Peterborough the Rt Rev Donald Allister and will care for 10 villages around Rutland Water.

During the service the Rev Nicol was presented by The Rural Dean of Rutland, Canon Lee Francis-Dehqani and installed by the Archdeacon of Oakham Ven Gordon Steele.

Parishioners presented the new rector with symbols including the bible, bread and wine and the church keys. The Rev Nicol has moved to Empingham Rectory from Shropshire where he was vicar of three churches.
