Rugby legends Tom Croft and Matt Smith are returning to Oakham School to host a Gala Dinner to celebrate their benefit year.
Members of the school community, current and past, as well as rugby-loving fans, are all invited to buy their tickets to join the celebrations on Sunday, May 29.
The Leicester Tigers rugby aces are both in the midst of their benefit year, which is supporting the Matt Hampson Foundation and The Prostate Project, two charities close to Matt and Tom’s hearts.
They are also proud to be celebrating their careers with an event at the place where it all started for them.
“I have fond memories of my time at Oakham,” says former England, Lions and Tigers star Croft.
“It’s a fantastic school and it really gave me the opportunity to take my rugby to the next level.
“It’s always great getting back to Oakham to see some old faces – so I’m really looking forward to this end-of-season ball!”
“Oakham School has played a huge part in my life,” adds Smith who has made over 185 appearances for Tigers.
“It’s the place where I learnt to play rugby and met my closest friends.
“There is no doubt that without Oakham, I would not have gone on to achieve what I have in my rugby career.”
The Gala Dinner will give guests an insight into the playing careers of these two Tigers stalwarts, with the opportunity to hear from them personally as well as other teammates including Martin Corry, Lewis Moody, and Louis Deacon.
There will also be the chance to get the perspective from these rugby legends on England’s new set-up and their thoughts on Tigers’ performance this season and for the future.
Tickets for the event cost £75 per person.
This includes a champagne reception, sumptuous three-course dinner and half a bottle of wine - as well as a chance for fans to get hold of some signed Tigers’ memorabilia and some unique auction items.
