A fantastic family day out awaits next Friday as the BGL Sport Bash 2016 returns for the fifth year.

The event, now a firm fixture in Stamford’s social calendar, returns to Stamford School playing fields from 11.30am on Friday, July 29.

It once again promises to be a fun-filled day, featuring free activities, live music, food and a star-studded cricket spectacle, including a host of former international greats taking to the field.

The day raises funds for a host of good causes, including the Matt Hampson Foundation, the Seb Goold Trust and #TeamGeorge.

Former England cricketer and Stamford Endowed School’s head of cricket Dean Headley is the organiser of the event.

He said: “BGL Sport Bash is a fantastic day out for all the family, last year we raised close to £40,000 for a host of charitable causes.

“It’s great to see the local community come together in support of our event.

“We’ve added some amazing activities and events to our lineup this year and hope to raise even more money for a host of good causes.”

Gates open at 11.30am, with visitors encouraged to try their hand at the climbing wall, potholing, archery, a bungee run and a 45m inflatable assault course.

Leicester Tigers will be bringing with them their roadshow vehicle, The Maul, the tackle bag and team mascot Welford. All activities are included in the admission price, ensuring visitors enjoy the ultimate BGL Sport Bash experience. And if rain stops play, visitors get a full refund on their entry price.

Ongoing entertainment throughout the day compromises of the Humberts Cup Kwik Cricket competition, a skydiving display, street performers and music provided by cover band Children of the Revolution, with more acts to follow.

A host of refreshments, sourced by the finest local food and drink vendors, including Grasmere, Stamford Deli, Batemans and Burleigh’s Gin will be available to purchase throughout the day.

Excitement is already building around the main event, a 20/20 cricket showpiece with a Dean Headley X1 competing against a Local Legends X1.

The Dean Headley X1 already boast a wealth of talent, including former international greats Simon Jones, Phil DeFreitas and Geraint
Jones.

Tickets for BGL Sport Bash 2016 are now available at www.bglsportbash.co.uk, priced £10 for adults and £7.50 for children over 5, with free entry for children aged five and under.
