Paralysed rugby star Matt Hampson gave an inspirational talk at Stamford Town Hall this week to raise funds for his foundation.

Tuesday night’s event was organised by Robert Loomes & Co watchmakers and managing director Robina Hill said it was a sell-out success.

She said: “Last summer at Stamford’s Sport Bash cricket event there was a charity auction and one of the lots was a talk by Matt at a location of your choice.

“I was the top bidder and thought rather than just getting him to speak to our staff I would open it up to the whole town.

“It was a total sell-out and Matt was hugely inspiration. There was barely a dry eye in the house as he told his story.”

Around £4,000 was raised for the Matt Hampson Foundation, which supports people with serious injuries and disabilities.
