Rutland’s annual walking and cycling festival returns soon, encouraging people to head outside and explore the county.

Now in its seventh year, the festival is split across three weeks from May 21 to June 12 and celebrates the many ways that residents and visitors can get active through walking and cycling.

Organised by Active Rutland, the festival also offers a chance to meet local clubs and groups, discover new routes around the county and see how walking and cycling can improve your health and well-being.

Portfolio holder for sport and recreation at Rutland County Council Oliver Hemsley (Con) said: “The Walking and Cycling Festival is a great way to celebrate Rutland and its
countryside.

“Every year we encourage people to take to their feet or bike and discover the benefits of walking and cycling out in the fresh air. They are both recommended activities to help you get active and become healthier and the festival is open to anyone, regardless of age or ability.

“From mums and tots bike rides to walking football, there really is something for everyone.”

Activities take place at locations throughout the county and are free to join in, with some small costs where bike hire is needed.
