Chater Community Choir gave a seasonal concert in Oakham School Chapel last Friday evening, raising £1,930.35 for the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity and to purchase a new piano for Edith Weston Primary School where the choir hold their rehearsals.

The choir were joined by children from Brooke Hill Academy and Edith Weston Primary School performing songs from their Christmas Concert and also joining the choir in singing other well-known festive favourites.

Choir leader Tracy Steward said: “We were delighted to have had a sell-out concert and raise an amazing amount of money.

“Our audiences continue to support us meaning we have now raised almost £9,000 for local causes and national charities since forming in 2012.

“Having the children join us added an extra-special element to the evening too.”

The choir was formed by Tracy in January 2012 and was the first community choir in Rutland.

New members are always welcome and do not have to audition and no experience is necessary.
