Rachel Richardson made a sparkling debut in men's cricket for Uppingham Town Colts when she claimed three wickets in Sunday's clash with Syston Town.
It wasn't enough to prevent the Rutland club losing by 58 runs but Rachel impressed with her spell of eight overs which brought her 3-25.

One of her victims was Steve Punchard, who played a match-winning knock of 101 for the visitors.

Syston Town piled on the runs early on with Punchard and Smith putting on 47 before Richardson removed Smith.

Punchard dominated the proceedings, scoring freely around the wicket despite losing a succession of partners in the process.

Simpson was Richradson's second wicket, caught behind by Neil Wedge, and Jamie Morton took a good caught and bowled to see off Nuttall for 16.

Linus produced the most productive partnership with Punchard, contributing 28 before Harry Robertson took a catch off the bowling of Jonny Forster.

Rachel returned for her second spell and had Punchard caught at extra cover by Peter Woolston.

Jonny Forster picked up two further wickets and Syston closed on 188 after 40 overs.

The Colts reply started promisingly with Ben Kind and Alex Barton accumulating singles easily. They took the score to 35 when Barton was caught off Marston for 16. Kind and Josh Wedge's partnership lasted just a few overs when a mix-up over a single resulted in Kind being run out.

Wedge and Harry Robertson pushed the score on to 59 when Wedge became Marston's second victim having added 19 runs personally.

Under 13s' team-mates Robertson and Ben Harford only stayed together for an over before Robertson was bowled by Truijens. Jack Kennedy lasted two balls, bowled by Truijens too.

Neil Wedge and Harford then moved the score on quickly with some boundaries before the former was eventually out for 24 off 27 balls, caught at gully.

Forster, Jamie Richardson and Jamie Morton fought a rear guard action to add some 32 runs before the Colts were all out for 130, some 58 runs short of the target of 188.

Jamie Richardson finished nine not out, including an exquisite sweep shot to square leg for four. Morton hit his first six of the season.

Colts stay fourth in Division 5 league and travel to Stragglers CC on Sunday in their next league encounter.
